Baby Temple is on the way!

Andrew and I found out on October 31st that we are expecting our first baby in early July. We tried to keep it under wraps as long as we could but we were just too excited. This is our first ultrasound picture.

Park City Utah - Hey Mika!

If you haven't heard of Mika then you're missing out. (www.mikasounds.com) Matt and I have been rocking out to him all year. So, when we discovered he was coming to the US on tour we had to be there. The most random of all places (but a place we knew we could convince non-Mika fans to visit) was Salt Lake City Utah. We sold it as a "ski trip" to Lilliam and Andrew and off we went.

Our first night was spent at the Mika concert and it was not what we expected. We arrive to find a line of teenagers wrapped around 3 city blocks in the freezing cold. We took a detour for sushi and entered at the very back of the line once it died down. To make things worse, Mika's equipment was stuck in an ice storm so he was playing an acoustic show instead..bummer. But we had to say it was really really good anyway. We spent the next day at the Mormon Tabernacle area looking up our ancestry.

Finally we get to Park City for skiing. The town was beautiful and our house was just one block away from the famous main street. We were concerned when we didn't see the promised hot tub which the owner told us was back in the yard before leaving. It was under 6 feet of snow. After shoveling it out we cranked it up and I have to say we spent more time in the hot tub than on the slopes.

Skiing was great for me but on the second day I decided to take a snowboard lesson with Matt and Andrew. Big mistake! Our teacher was like a surfer dude and kept calling my falls "epic". I was totally on board until he took us up the mountain and as soon as I got off the lift I feel so hard on the packed snow that I heard something pop and my goggles flew off. They tried to take me down on the snowmobile stretcher but I refused, opting for the back. Andrew and Matty were great at snowboarding so Lil and I sat it out a while.

It was great fun and we hope to make it back again someday!

Evan Grace

Our niece, Evan Grace, was born on January 27, 2008 weighing 5lb 7oz and 17 inches long. Evan's arrival was unexpected and early. She's in NICU with some lung and valve issues.

She has lots of dark hair and blue eyes. She seems to have her dad's ears and lips and her mom's nose. She has the "Pinson" feet with a gap between the first 2 toes. She looks like a little monkey so we've decided to call her "our little Monchhichi."

Her big brother can't wait to get her home, and we can't wait to hold her. We're praying for her quick recovery.
***Update: Our little Monchhichi is at home and doing great. She had so much support and prayers and we are so thankful. She is a very good baby and very pretty. More pictures coming soon.

2007 in review

2007 was our best year so far! We have been blessed beyond belief! Looking back over the past year and a half, our lives have changed in every way imaginable - new jobs, new city, new home, new friends, new marriage. It was a little scary at first but we're so glad that we made the decision to move to Houston for Andrew's job with the City of Sugar Land.

We started the year off with a bang, when Jordan decided to go back to work full time. Her job with The Fifth Business was a dream come true and such a blessing. In order to keep the JT makeup business going we hired 2 new makeup artists in January. Kristina and Katie are such great additions to the team and the business has grown beyond belief. Originally jumping at the chance to work a wedding, we're now booking 2-3 weddings per weekend.

In February we found the home of our dreams in the Cinco Ranch community of Katy, Texas. After initial conversations we found that the house was in a pre-foreclosure stage and had been abandoned by the owners. It was brand new, completed in May of 2006 but only lived in for 2 months. The long and frustrating process had it's ups and downs. We finally secured the purchase in March after much work on Andrew's part to hassle the bank who now had control.

We moved in on April 7th. The home is perfect for us, with 3 bedrooms, a huge closet (mostly Jordan's clothes) and an additional formal living room which was perfect for a makeup studio. We've slowly made it our own and there's still more to come. Reese loves having so much room to roam. He now gets to go outside in the backyard and loves to feel the wind on his fur. He even has a new friend, Pedro, who comes over to play.

Spring and Summer is big wedding business so we stayed really busy. We also had some weddings to attend. Jordan's best friend Sara was married in May, and Andrew's friends Garrett and Mike in April and November.

In July we went to Las Vegas for the first time. We loved it and can't wait to go back. We plan to revisit in 2008 and renew our vows with Elvis!

September of 2007 was Jordan's 10 year High School reunion. Somehow she was talked into the planning committee. It was a great time and a great chance to reconnect with classmates.

In October we had the first of many annual Halloween parties. We had a blast and can't wait for next year. The spring and summer months were so successful for the makeup business that we were in need of another artist. We brought on April, a former bride and customer, to the team. We also joined forces with Tiffany, an artist new to the Houston area. We're very excited about our new team members and look forward to another successful year in 2008.

Our first Thanksgiving and Christmas in our new house was great, very low-key. We decided to cut down our own Christmas tree. We went to a Christmas tree farm on a very cold day. They gave us an old rusty saw and a stick to measure. Neither items were particularly helpful. While cutting the tree Andrew looked up and said "We are NEVER doing this again!" and I agreed. When we got it home it took up the entire dining room (luckily there was no furniture). We stuck it in the corner so we only had to decorate about 1/3 of the tree. It was pretty but way too much of a hassle! Getting it out was an even bigger endeavour as it was not bailed and didn't fit through the door as is. We had to get an electric saw and cut off about half the branches in order to get it out. Pine needles and sap everywhere - but we finally got it out the door!

Overall we are so very blessed. We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of our lives in 2007, and of course we're so thankful that God has given us this wonderful year together!

Prayer Requests

We have 2 big prayer requests.

In December we learned that Jordan's mother has a second pheochromocytoma tumor. The first was removed 15 years ago from her spine, behind her heart, and was followed by a very lengthy recovery process. It is a very rare tumor, and it's extremely rare that it develops on the spine, and again extrememly rare that it would develop again. But, the doctors now say that she seems to have another tumor, judging from levels in a recent blood test. Since the initial testing she has undergone radioactive testing where radioactive materials are injected and then hours later her body is photographed. The first test was inconclusive.

This week she will undergo a second round of testing. Our prayers are for these 6 things:

  1. That she doesn't have a tumor
  2. That if the tumor is in fact there that it is in a much easier place to remove
  3. That the recovery and risk is much less than before
  4. That she will be led to a really great Endocrinologist
  5. That she can get into a great hospital to be treated
  6. That it isn't malignant

We are also praying for Andrew's grandmother, Nana. We've recently learned that Nana has cancer originating in her colon. We pray for her healing and strength and that God will bless Chap, Julie, Ty and Sheri as they are making difficult decisions.

*****Update on Mom: She just received the results from her second test. Again, no tumor is showing on the tests! We don't know what the deal is? It could be an answered prayer! Please keep praying for her. Thanks!

*****Update on Nana: Nana passed away on January 25th, just 2 days short of her 87th birthday. A beautiful and very touching service honored her on Monday, January 28th. Evan Grace, our new neice, was born on her birthday.
